What does the “Moy pezdyuk” meme mean?
The phrase, originally a colloquial and slightly coarse term for a young guy with a gruff, affectionate undertone, is mainly used to comment on a striking resemblance or a relationship of influence between two people or characters. People caption an image with it when someone looks like a miniature version, a clone, or the obvious disciple of another, in an almost parental or unlikely mentor-mentee relationship. The tone stays light and affectionate rather than truly insulting, despite the crudeness of the original term. It works as a shorthand for saying “this one clearly takes after that one”, with a touch of humor.
Where does the “Moy pezdyuk” meme come from?
“Moï pezdiouk” circulated on the Runet as a meme attached to duos of people or characters showing a striking resemblance or a marked relationship of influence, the colloquial term designating whichever of the two is perceived as the “little one” or the disciple of the other. A video explicitly presents it as one of the most notable memes of 2016, matching the dating given by the card. The original term, rather coarse in everyday use, is employed here in a much more affectionate, colloquial register, typical of this kind of comparison meme between two figures.
