In MyMemeCards, the meme card game, “Ruki-bazuki” is a rare card of the Russian Memes pack, number 147 of the collection, and the 40th best-known meme of its 300 cards. Here is what the meme means, where it comes from, and how to get its card.
What does the “Ruki-bazuki” meme mean?
The phrase mocks a spectacular result reached for very bad reasons: arms so disproportionate they look closer to injury than athletic achievement. People use it for any exaggerated improvement that looks impressive on the surface but makes little practical sense, keeping the half-fascinated, half-worried tone of the original pictures.
Where does the “Ruki-bazuki” meme come from?
The meme comes from the 2017 media coverage, on the Runet, of Kirill Terechine, whose hugely enlarged arms earned him the nickname “bazooka arms” (“rouki-bazouki”). The card tags it as a Runet meme for 2017; the exact circumstances of the original pictures could not be confirmed in detail despite searches on YouTube and the Russian Wikipedia, but Kirill Terechine's name tied to this nickname is enough to identify the meme. His case became a recurring reference to picture, in a vivid way, extreme physical transformations reached through risky shortcuts rather than regular training.
