In MyMemeCards, the meme card game, “Babulekh” is a rare card of the Russian Memes pack, number 202 of the collection, and the 40th best-known meme of its 300 cards. Here is what the meme means, where it comes from, and how to get its card.
What does the “Babulekh” meme mean?
People bring up “Baboulekh” to talk about an animal mascot that turned into a full-fledged character, given a complete imaginary life followed seriously by a community. The name is also used more broadly for any pet whose online followers invent a wild backstory for.
Where does the “Babulekh” meme come from?
The meme was born in 2017 around a Himalayan kitten nicknamed Baboulekh by groups on VK (Russia's main social network), who gradually built a whole fictional world around it: a family, friends, and a dog presented as a rival. The card dates it to 2017 and tags it as a Runet format; no specific source beyond this VK-group attribution could be confirmed. The character's success rests on this soap-opera-like mythology, where each new post adds another episode to the kitten's story.
