What does the “Kus” meme mean?
People say “Kous” to mimic a tender little bite with no real aggression, a bit like a playful nibble-kiss. Paired with a cat photo, it means “I like you” or “approved”, with a touch of childlike humor picked up by a much wider community than its original audience.
Where does the “Kus” meme come from?
The word was born in 2014 among Russian anime fans, where “kous” imitates the sound of a small affectionate bite, almost childlike, very different from a real bite. The card dates it to 2014 and tags it as a Runet format; no specific origin source beyond this fan community could be confirmed. Cat photos later popularized the word well beyond animation circles, turning it into a universal affectionate phrase on the Runet, used to express tender approval rather than any real attack.
