What does the “Moi c'est Brice, je viens de Nice” meme mean?
People use it to introduce themselves in an exaggeratedly cool way, like a confident surfer waiting for the perfect wave. The easy rhyme between Brice and Nice raises a smile, and the slightly cocky tone suits parody. It shows up in welcome messages, gaming handles or jokes between colleagues. It also teases someone from Nice or named Brice. The fun lies in the voice you imitate more than in the content.
Where does the “Moi c'est Brice, je viens de Nice” meme come from?
Brice de Nice is a French film directed by James Huth and released in 2005, based on the title character created by Jean Dujardin in a sketch. The hero thinks he is a surfer waiting for waves in Nice and punctuates his sentences with catchphrases that became cult. The rhyming introduction, “Moi c'est Brice, je viens de Nice”, boils that universe down to one line that is easy to imitate. It then circulated in edits, sounds reused on social networks and comments, far from its original setting, and remains tied to that comedy.
