What does the “ON peut ouuuuuuu” meme mean?
The meme blends two ideas: a sentence that trails off into an endless “ouuuu”, and the praise “Absolute cinema”. The first sets a comic, excessive tone; the second delivers the admiration. People use it to salute a scene, a goal, a line or a lucky find they consider magnificent, with a dose of self-mockery. The joke lies in exaggeration, reacting to a small event as if it were a blockbuster. It fits comment sections just as well as chats between friends.
Where does the “ON peut ouuuuuuu” meme come from?
“Absolute cinema” is a widespread compliment on English-speaking social media, used for a moment judged worthy of the silver screen. The French-language version ties it to a phrase whose ending dissolves into a prolonged cry, “ON peut ouuuuuuu”. The combination circulates mostly as short clips, comments and edits, with humor built on the gap between the solemn compliment and the clumsy outburst. It shows how French-speaking communities borrow English expressions and mix them with their own references.
