Where does the “P’tit journal, la chatte” meme come from?

Le Petit Journal was a Canal+ show that aired from 30 August 2004 to 22 June 2017. First a segment of Le Grand Journal, it became a show in its own right on 29 August 2011, hosted by Yann Barthès, then by Cyrille Eldin from 2016. Its approach was to tell the news in an offbeat way through field reports. In that setting Gérard Depardieu, met by the team, shouted his “P’tit journal, la chatte!”. The clip, reposted online as “Depardieu se lâche”, shows him playing hide-and-seek with the journalists at a shoot linked to the DSK affair. It has since circulated as edits and quotes.
