This format satirizes the tendency to anticipate the worst-case scenario in everyday contexts. The core emotion is catastrophic anxiety: every normal action triggers an unfounded but intense fear. The original photograph comes from a Photoshop contest on Worth1000, published as early as 2004. It was later used in 2007 to illustrate OpenCV 1.0 filters in Japanese documentation. The bird depicted is a Hyacinth Macaw. The meme itself emerged from 4chan, though the author and exact first publication date remain unknown. Its widespread diffusion began in August 2010, notably via the Tumblr blog F Yeah Paranoid Parrot, which posted its first entry on August 10, 2010.
