What does the “Interior Crocodile Alligator” meme mean?
This meme expresses humor through total confusion and absurdity. It acts as a wild cousin to the Rickroll: instead of a pop song, the user discovers an unexpected and strange freestyle performance. The goal is laughter at the cognitive dissonance between initial expectation and the actual sound. It relies purely on creative chaos rather than deep hidden messages.
Where does the “Interior Crocodile Alligator” meme come from?
The content comes from an improvised freestyle by Cleveland rapper Chip tha Ripper, also known as King Chip. He recorded this performance in 2007 during a session on Street Starz Radio, hosted by Prettyboy Floyd, over the beat of “Go ’Head” by Ali & Gipp. This version is also called the “S.L.A.B. Freestyle”. The exact recording date remains unknown. The first dated digital trace appeared on Something Awful forums on September 22, 2007, as an image and audio loop repeating key lyrics. The phenomenon spread via Digg starting in summer 2008, becoming a classic bait video on Myspace, Facebook, and YouTube.
