La prévention ivresse - Groland Le Zapoï du 28/04 - CANAL+ (Groland - CANAL+)In MyMemeCards, the meme card game, “Prévention ivresse” is an epic card of the Memes FR pack, number 2220 of the collection, and the 753rd best-known meme of its 3493 cards. Here is what the meme means, where it comes from, and how to get its card.
What does the “Prévention ivresse” meme mean?
The line captures the gap between how sober you feel and what the breathalyser says. The speaker hesitates, guesses somewhere around 0.6 or 0.7, then finds out the real figure is 1.2 grams per litre, more than double the 0.5 limit for driving in France. The “thanks” is pure sarcasm, aimed at the awareness scheme that has just exposed them. People use it to tease overconfident self-assessments, rough mornings after a party, or any estimate that turns out wildly off, even when alcohol has nothing to do with it.
Where does the “Prévention ivresse” meme come from?
The phrase is tied to Groland, the make-believe principality created for Canal+ in 1992 by Benoît Delépine and Christophe Salengro. Under the title Groland Le Zapoï, which ran from 2016 to 2024, the programme aired a sketch called “La prévention ivresse”, posted on Groland’s official YouTube channel in the episode dated 28 April. Short clips of the same moment then spread under the title “Merci la prévention ivresse”, including vertical-format reposts. That line, lifted out of the sketch, is what became the meme: it gets shared as is whenever someone underestimates their own state.
