“Quelqu’un le connaît ?” meme: meaning, origin and common card

What does the “Quelqu’un le connaît ?” meme mean?

The line plays like a genuine search for someone’s identity: no, seriously, does anyone know this guy? The joke lives in the gap between the earnest tone and an image that is usually harmless or just strange. It expresses mock worry, confusion, or the urge to turn a random face into a legend. People use it under a blurry screenshot, a background extra, or a character who shows up in a scene for no reason. The straighter the delivery, the better it works.

Where does the “Quelqu’un le connaît ?” meme come from?

The phrase builds on an old internet reflex: asking the crowd “who is this?” when a face comes without a caption. Forums and later social networks filled up with these appeals, some sincere, some playful. The meme version keeps the staging of the search post, including the insistent “no, seriously”, and sticks it on any image at all. Its plainest form stays a direct question, no context, addressed to everyone at once.
