What does the “Porto's skidding laugh” meme mean?
The “skidding laugh” is a burst of laughter that veers every which way, like a car losing control. It became a recognition sign among the channel's fans. People use it to laugh at a blunder in an exaggerated way, to accompany a comic fail, or to lighten a moment. Its appeal is as much audio as visual: it travels as a sound or a clip.
Where does the “Porto's skidding laugh” meme come from?
Porto's laugh comes from Guzz Productions, a French YouTube channel making comedy videos around video games. The episode “Guzz Theft Porto V #17: Le rire-dérapage de Porto” is devoted to it, and later videos revisit it, such as “RIRE-DÉRAPAGE, le retour (Nidhogg)” and “LE NOUVEAU RIRE DE PORTO (Webinettes)”. The series title Guzz Theft Porto V echoes a famous open-world action game. Compilation channels then re-uploaded the passage as “Rire Porto” and circulated it as a meme sound. The laugh thus moved from video gag to shared fan expression.
