In MyMemeCards, the meme card game, “Serge le mytho” is a rare card of the Memes FR pack, number 1487 of the collection, and the 753rd best-known meme of its 3493 cards. Here is what the meme means, where it comes from, and how to get its card.
What does the “Serge le mytho” meme mean?
“Mytho” is French slang short for mythomaniac, someone who invents or embellishes stories. Serge le mytho plays that flaw for laughs: each episode has him spinning a spectacular anecdote nobody really believes. The meme gets posted to tease a friend who exaggerates, a colleague whose story changes with every retelling, or any tale too good to be true. The tone is affectionate rather than cruel, laughing at the storyteller's confidence as much as at the lies.
Where does the “Serge le mytho” meme come from?
Serge le Mytho is a series of short numbered episodes whose dedicated channel describes it as the story of a guy who tells stories, with a link to the Canal+ website. The episode titles show the formula: one explains why Serge dropped out of school, another has him launching into cinema with Luc Besson, another has him hunting for an investor. The character also turned up in the series Bloqués, in an episode about his adventures in Thailand. Short, easy-to-share formats helped the name spread into everyday French and into meme compilations.
