What does the “Si tu me vois je t'enc****” meme mean?
The image works as a joke threat: an adult calmly promising consequences, with the slap already thrown. Forums use it to announce that someone has been spotted, that what they did is known, and that there will be no discussion. The effect comes from the gap between the setting, a presidential campaign walkabout filmed by news crews, and the street-level caption pasted over it. The card keeps the player’s wording, asterisks included, as it circulates.
Where does the “Si tu me vois je t'enc****” meme come from?
The scene took place on 9 April 2002, during the French presidential campaign, in the Meinau district of Strasbourg: the candidate François Bayrou noticed a boy’s hand in his pocket and struck him in the face, in front of the television crews following him. It was broadcast widely at the time and remains one of the most replayed moments of that campaign. The caption “si tu me vois, je t’enc****” is not part of the footage: it was added later to the still frame, in the family of mock threats written over screenshots. This article makes no claim about who wrote it, since that could not be traced.
