What does the “Tu crois t'es un lion” meme mean?
The phrase mocks someone who feels irresistible, superior or impressive with nothing to back it up. The lion stands for the image they have of themselves, while the vulgar punchline stands for how others see them. People use it in reply to a very confident post, to a show-off or to anyone acting like the strongest in the room. The tone is online roasting: blunt on the surface, usually friendly underneath. The comedy comes from the gap between the announced grandeur and the sudden drop.

The two-step construction, a flattering first half followed by a slap of a punchline, is typical of social media phrases that spread through quotes, screenshots and replies. It travelled among French-speaking users as a ready-made reply to any overly flattering posture.
