In MyMemeCards, the meme card game, “Allez Alain Philippe !” is a common card of the Memes FR pack, number 1083 of the collection, and the 630th best-known meme of its 976 cards. Here is what the meme means, where it comes from, and how to get its card.
What does the “Allez Alain Philippe !” meme mean?
Cheering for Alain Philippe means playing the diligent supporter and getting the person magnificently wrong. The joke runs on one gap: the gesture is entirely sincere, the target is empty. People use it to salute a collective effort aimed at nobody, to tease the fan who only knows one name, or to caption a sign that will be on screen for three seconds and in people’s heads far longer.
Where does the “Allez Alain Philippe !” meme come from?
The name comes from Julian Alaphilippe, the French rider who was road world champion in 2020 and 2021, and whose surname is naturally heard as a first name followed by a family name. The Fédération Française de la Lose, a collective born on social media to celebrate French sporting failure with a straight face, turned that homophone into a character and handed signs to roadside crowds at the 2022 Tour de France. The device is built for television: the camera motorbike sweeps the verge, the sign goes past, and the gag airs live in dozens of countries. In 2023 the drinks brand Orangina reused the trick with a “Laurent Gina” built on the same pun. By 2025 the collective claimed several hundred thousand followers across Facebook, X and Instagram.
