What does the “Bonne nuit les tipeu” meme mean?
The meme signals that a clip, often a children's program or an old broadcast, has been remixed into absurd comedy through YouTube Poop editing. People share it to enjoy the contrast between a gentle, familiar bedtime show and a chaotic audiovisual edit. The tone stays silly and nostalgic, aimed at a generation that grew up watching the original program before seeing it parodied online, rather than carrying any hidden message.
Where does the “Bonne nuit les tipeu” meme come from?
“Bonne nuit les petits” is a French children's program created in 1962 and broadcast every evening before bedtime on public channels, featuring the characters Nounours, Pimprenelle and Nicolas, along with its sandman theme. Its fame and gentle tone later made it a favorite target of YouTube Poop (YTP), an editing genre born on YouTube that cuts, loops, speeds up and distorts a source video's sound to create absurd comedy. “Bonne nuit les tipeu” names one of these edits, built from the program, and it became recognized within French-speaking internet culture as a notable example of the genre, referenced on its own rather than for the original show.
