In MyMemeCards, the meme card game, “Coucou petite perruche !” is a common card of the Memes FR pack, number 1031 of the collection, and the 762nd best-known meme of its 977 cards. Here is what the meme means, where it comes from, and how to get its card.
What does the “Coucou petite perruche !” meme mean?
The meme hands someone a familiarity they never asked for. Everything rests on the imbalance: the tone is warm, the nickname is ridiculous, and the target has to choose between playing along and taking offence over nothing. People use it to greet a friend in a deliberately awkward way, to comment on an approach that is far too relaxed, or to name the professional pest’s method — advance smiling and let the other person handle it. It is a meme of discomfort, not of insult.
Where does the “Coucou petite perruche !” meme come from?
François l’embrouille is the hidden-camera format of the Belgian comedian François Damiens, broadcast on television and then widely reshared online: a character walks into a business and pushes the professional to the edge without ever dropping his politeness. The phrase “Coucou petite perruche!” belongs to one of those segments, where the customer greets the tattoo artist like a long-lost intimate. The clip travelled on its own, detached from the sketch, and the phrase became a standalone greeting, quoted for the sound of it. The videos gathered for this page confirm the line and the character but do not allow the original broadcast to be dated precisely; the catalogue keeps 2015.
