In MyMemeCards, the meme card game, “Crying man” is a common card of the Memes World series 70, number 20770 of the collection, and the 14th best-known meme of its 18 cards. Here is what the meme means, where it comes from, and how to get its card.
What does the “Crying man” meme mean?
The meme runs on open exaggeration. Nobody believes the grief on display, and that is the point, since the picture says “I am crying” where the situation deserves a sigh at most. It gets used for a lost match, a cancelled series, a queue, a message left unanswered. With not a single word in the frame, it works in any language and suits both self-mockery and needling an opponent who has just lost.
Where does the “Crying man” meme come from?
The card rests on a reel published on Instagram, which is the earliest consultable trace of this shot. Beyond that post, nothing is documented: not the date of the recording, not the identity of the man filmed, not the circumstances he was filmed in. That is common for reaction images, which spread by cropping and re-upload from one platform to the next, shedding provenance at every step until the expression on the face is the only thing left that matters. The origin year is therefore left empty rather than guessed, and the meme is described by its use rather than by its history.
How to use the “Crying man” meme
- Reply with the image when a friend reports a sporting defeat they had not seen coming.
- Post it about yourself after a disappointment you know is absurd: the meal is over, the episode is over, the weekend is over.
- Send it to gently mock someone making a drama out of a minor setback.
