What does the “L'énergie de Bardella” meme mean?
The image stands for the silence after a jab you have no answer to. It gets used when someone is stopped dead in an argument, or to show your own blank face in front of a comment that landed. Calling it an “energy” adds a layer of mockery: the word usually describes quiet confidence, while the card shows the exact opposite, a closed face waiting for the moment to pass.
Where does the “L'énergie de Bardella” meme come from?
The exchange aired on Saturday 13 December 2025 on “Quelle Époque !”, the France 2 show hosted by Léa Salamé. The leader of the Rassemblement National had just praised Donald Trump when Bachelot, a former government minister also on the panel, said: “Help. The boot-licking…” The set laughed, the audience applauded, and Bardella answered a few seconds later: “I find you very inelegant, Madame Bachelot.” Clips were cut that same evening and spread widely on TikTok and YouTube, where many viewers read the moment as a dressing-down and said so in the comments. What the card keeps is neither the praise nor the answer, but the pause between the two.
