What does the “Et dimanche prochain, j'vais jouer !!” meme mean?
The line captures the anger of someone who feels unfairly benched and demands respect. “I’m going to play” works as both a threat and a plea: the coach has to put him on. People use it to mock an overblown rage, a dressing-room dispute or a bruised ego. Swearing on his mother’s grave adds theatrical weight, which is why the clip is usually quoted in full, with the accent and the fury.
Where does the “Et dimanche prochain, j'vais jouer !!” meme come from?
The clip comes from “93150 Un autre football”, a documentary series broadcast on L’Équipe TV that follows an amateur club from the Paris suburbs. Jean-Eudes, one of the players, loses his temper with the coach: he swears on his mother’s grave that he will play next Sunday and says that if people refuse to respect him, he will not respect them either. The video, titled “Jean-Eudes péte un câble” on YouTube, spread widely. Other channels reposted it as “Embrouille entraîneur et joueur”, and a creator later tracked Jean-Eudes down to revisit the episode years afterwards. The line remains a staple of amateur football humor.
