What does the “Je m'appelle Valentin, j'aime le Kiri” meme mean?
People post the clip when an introduction is required and there is nothing impressive to say: Valentin’s list is short, concrete and entirely unembarrassed. The format became a model for every parody introduction, from a profile biography to the opening line of an imaginary interview. The comedy is not in a punchline but in the seriousness of the delivery: the boy lists his tastes the way you fill in a form, with no idea he has just written a classic.
Where does the “Je m'appelle Valentin, j'aime le Kiri” meme come from?
The video is a very poor screen capture, probably from a late-2000s webcam, reposted on YouTube on 15 August 2020 under the wording of the line itself. Nothing establishes the original context: not the date it was filmed, nor the platform where it first circulated. The low definition is part of the meme, as much as the delivery is: the pixelated picture immediately signals an artefact of the old French-speaking internet. The clip spreads mostly as a written quotation, “je m’appelle Valentin, j’aime le Kiri”, reused in profile descriptions and comments, and later posts often keep nothing but that sentence. No documented source identifies the person filmed, and the meme takes no interest in doing so.
