In the second half of his career, Giorgio Chiellini racked up a string of theatrical tactical fouls meant to stop opposing plays in the least damaging way possible. The most famous came in the Euro 2020 final against England, where he grabbed English forward Bukayo Saka in a wrestler-style hold. England striker Harry Kane himself named Chiellini among the toughest defenders he faced in his career, alongside England’s John Terry.
