What does the “Slaboumiye i otvaga” meme mean?
The phrase "foolishness and courage" describes someone who jumps into a situation without really weighing the risk, carried more by impulse than by reasoning. It first stuck to Dale, usually shown as the bolder and less careful of the two chipmunks, before it broke free of him : people now bring it back for anyone whose nerve looks as much like recklessness as it does bravery.
Where does the “Slaboumiye i otvaga” meme come from?
The motto “foolishness and courage” comes from a fake coat of arms drawn by the artist vliff in 2009, attributed to Dale, the Chip 'n Dale character. Giving a cartoon hero a heraldic motto that mocks him was popular enough that other characters later got their own pair of qualities on the same model, borrowing heraldry's look to sum up a personality trait in two well-chosen words. For Dale, “foolishness and courage” has carried its original meaning across the years on the Runet : bravery that never paused to think before acting. How far that image traveled beyond its original circle is not well documented.
