Where does the “No Mario” meme come from?
The exact source and creator of the drawing showing Luigi turning down Mario’s aid in a medical room remain undocumented online. It is often conflated with another internet meme named “No Mario,” which originated from an April 2, 2025 webcomic by artist Sloshua on X. In that comic, an ordinary man declines Mario’s invite to an imaginary world upon learning games cost 100 dollars, an image that quickly mocked the pricing of future Nintendo Switch 2 releases. An earlier 2011 YouTube upload called Mario Goes to the Hospital also involved medical care between the brothers, but inverted their roles.
