“Si juva bien, c'est Juvamine” meme: meaning, origin and common card

What does the “Si juva bien, c'est Juvamine” meme mean?

The line is a pun: “ju va” sounds like “ça va”, so the slogan reads as “if things are going well, it’s Juvamine”. Outside the ad, people use it to answer a casual “how are you?” with a wink, or to sing the tune when it pops back into their heads. It carries a light, nostalgic mood, a shared memory of French television that anyone who grew up with it recognises immediately.

Where does the “Si juva bien, c'est Juvamine” meme come from?

Juvamine is a brand of vitamin pills that advertised on French television with a short sung spot built around the refrain “Si ju va bien, c’est Juvamine”. The jingle is simple and repetitive, made to stick after one listen. Versions from 1996, 1998 (a ten-second cut) and 2012 can be found on YouTube, which shows the brand kept its hook for years. That longevity turned the refrain into a cult commercial, then into a running joke in conversations, edits and parodies.

1. 1996A Juvamine spot using the refrain airs on French television.
2. 1998A ten-second version of the commercial airs.
3. 2012A new Juvamine TV spot is released.
