What does the “Trevor Philips” meme mean?
The dominant emotion is raw aggression and tyrannical authority. The character expresses fierce territorial ownership: nothing passes without his permission. Outside the game, this quote is used to illustrate authoritarian takeover, often humorously or ironically, when someone imposes their rules excessively. It also symbolizes chaotic, improvised criminal management by an unstable but effective individual.
Where does the “Trevor Philips” meme come from?
The quote comes from the video game Grand Theft Auto V, released in 2013. It is delivered by Trevor Philips, a notoriously unstable protagonist. The scene takes place during the mission 'Mr. Philips'. Trevor confronts Ortega, an opposing gang leader, after invading his territory. He states that all weapons and methamphetamine (called 'crank') in the region must go through his business. This clearly establishes his local dominance. The phrase was popularized via the second official trailer of the game, published on YouTube on May 23, 2013. Fans then detached this quote from its narrative context to make it a standalone meme associated with the character's threatening image.
