What does the “LeLIVE launch night” meme mean?
Mentioning the LeLIVE launch night means pointing at a debut that goes wrong on every front. The phrase captures the gap between an ambitious announcement and an opening evening packed with technical trouble and missteps. People use it to tease a flopped launch, a livestream going sideways, or a big media machine tripping in its first minutes. There is a nostalgic edge as well for those who watched it unfold live on Twitter.
Where does the “LeLIVE launch night” meme come from?
LeLIVE is a web TV channel launched by Webedia on Monday, February 3, 2020. It targeted viewers under 35 and aired every day from 5 p.m. to midnight, across platforms including YouTube, Twitch, Dailymotion, Mixer, Molotov, Snapchat, TikTok, Twitter and Facebook. Kevin Razy hosted the first part of the night and introduced the channel’s personalities and shows. Soon an audio delay of roughly five seconds appeared and took a long time to fix, while the Twitch chat was switched off so only moderators could write. A few hours in, jokes widely seen as shocking aired, and the LeLIVE Twitch channel was banned. The official Twitter account jokingly admitted to “2,3 soucis”, the YouTube stream collected plenty of dislikes, and several well-known streamers criticized the evening.
