In MyMemeCards, the meme card game, “Baman Piderman” is a common card of the Memes World series 76, number 22555 of the collection, and the 55th best-known meme of its 298 cards. Here is what the meme means, where it comes from, and how to get its card.
What does the “Baman Piderman” meme mean?
Baman Piderman is the charm of deliberately bad craft. The two heroes, reduced to stick figures, go through silly adventures with misplaced seriousness. The comedy comes from the gap between the glamour of superheroes and the clumsiness of the drawing and delivery. Mentioning the series means praising absurd humor, joking about a cheap but irresistible parody, or recognizing a fan of the 2000s web. It proves that a scribbled idea can be funnier than a big production, as long as the timing and the dialogue stay sharp.
Where does the “Baman Piderman” meme come from?
The creators are Alex Butera, who handles animation, and Lindsay Small, who writes. According to a Wired interview, the idea came after they saw an avant-garde performance at Boston's Institute of Contemporary Art. On May 28, 2008, the pilot episode, “Find Da Sandwich,” appeared on Alex Butera's personal blog. Mondo Media, the studio behind Happy Tree Friends and Dick Figures, then joined the project and reposted the pilot on May 1, 2009. Selected episodes aired on G4's Attack of the Show on September 3, 2009. Between November 2009 and September 2011, five more episodes were released. On December 3, 2012, the creators announced that Mondo Media would stop funding new episodes and said they planned their own YouTube channel instead. A Cartoon Brew article later reported that the creators had recovered the rights and planned four or five new episodes.
