What does the “Will Smith slap” meme mean?
The meme stands for a sudden, violent reaction in the middle of a formal setting. It captures surprise, disbelief and the awkward silence of a room watching a blunder happen live. People use it to illustrate an overreaction to a joke, or to stage a comic comeback. The photo is also a template: any face or character can replace one of the two men. Since the real event was serious for those involved, it is best used with some restraint.
Where does the “Will Smith slap” meme come from?
