Where does the “Crivella, Come Look” meme come from?
In September 2019, during the Rio de Janeiro Book Fair, then-mayor Marcelo Crivella ordered copies of Marvel's “Avengers: The Children's Crusade” pulled from shelves because it showed a kiss between the characters Wiccan and Hulkling, which he deemed inappropriate. The move sparked a major backlash and was widely seen as censorship. The image of the kiss then spread across social media, overlaid on photos of potholes, stalled construction sites and floods across Rio, with the caption “Crivella, come here”, an ironic invitation for the mayor to act with the same urgency on actual urban problems.
