In July 2011, in Porto Velho, Brazil, 22-year-old José Rossoni Rodrigues complained to his brother that nobody had poked him on Facebook in the three months since he joined, not even after a four-year relationship had just ended. On July 24, his brother filmed the rant and posted it to YouTube as “Ninguém me cutuca no Facebook” (“Nobody pokes me on Facebook”). The video passed 700,000 views in five days and topped 3 million views overall. In the first three days alone, Rossoni received 2,000 pokes, his friend count jumped from 95 to nearly 5,000, and 1,000 friend requests piled up. The rant even inspired a forró song.
