In MyMemeCards, the meme card game, “DRAAAAAAA” is a rare card of the Memes FR pack, number 1086 of the collection, and the 566th best-known meme of its 976 cards. Here is what the meme means, where it comes from, and how to get its card.
What does the “DRAAAAAAA” meme mean?
The word means nothing, and that is the point: it announces the arrival of whoever is speaking, with no content at all, on the length of a vowel alone. People post it to signal that they are showing up, to salute a loud entrance, or to summon in one word the nostalgia of the forums and video feuds of the early 2010s. The longer the vowel, the more faithful the quotation.
Where does the “DRAAAAAAA” meme come from?
Cortex, born in 1981, started filming himself in 2010, claiming his Évry estate and stacking up video feuds as a deliberate way to draw attention to his character and his music. It worked beyond his expectations: a reply from the video maker Cyprien reached tens of millions of views and installed Cortex as one of the first great confrontations of French YouTube. His catchphrases then circulated as compilations, and “DRAAAAAAA”, placed at the top of each video, became the most reused of them, alongside the line that follows it: “this is Cortex, les Pyramides”. The original videos have been moved, deleted and re-uploaded many times over, so the exact date of the first use remains uncertain.
