In MyMemeCards, the meme card game, “POSEYYY” is a rare card of the Memes FR pack, number 1085 of the collection, and the 512th best-known meme of its 976 cards. Here is what the meme means, where it comes from, and how to get its card.
What does the “POSEYYY” meme mean?
The word describes nothing in particular: to be posey is to be settled, at ease, doing nothing much. Its power is purely sonic. People drop it at the end of a sentence to signal that they are not moving, that they own up to an empty schedule, or simply to do the voice. The suffix turned productive: any French word can take the -eyy and instantly sound like a quotation.
Where does the “POSEYYY” meme come from?
Swagg Man became known in 2013 and 2014 through videos built around cars, watches and stacks of cash, delivered in a very recognisable accent that drags out final vowels. His track “Ma Bentley” has several million views on YouTube and carries the most quoted instances of the word. The album “Swagg Man Posey” came out on 27 June 2014. He has said he introduced “posey bro” to France with the meaning “I’m sitting quietly doing nothing, brother”. The character was later caught up in widely reported legal trouble, but the word had already left its author: it circulates as a standalone interjection, often used by people who have no idea where it came from.
