In MyMemeCards, the meme card game, “J'me pète la gueule !” is a common card of the Memes FR pack, number 826 of the collection, and the 839th best-known meme of its 869 cards. Here is what the meme means, where it comes from, and how to get its card.
What does the “J'me pète la gueule !” meme mean?
The card is for the moment a demonstration collapses mid-explanation. Play it when someone wipes out on the exact manoeuvre they were walking you through, when a live tutorial breaks on its simplest step, or when an authority figure loses all composure on camera. The line is funny because he comments on the fall in the present tense, before he has even hit the ground: he stays in teaching mode to the end.
Where does the “J'me pète la gueule !” meme come from?
The clip surfaced online in October 2019. A copy was uploaded to YouTube on 7 October 2019; French video site Koreus posted it that same month, and Swiss outlet 20 minutes picked it up on 9 October 2019 in its oddities round-up. As Koreus describes the scene, it takes place on a bridge over the A6 motorway: the gendarme is explaining how a mobile speed camera works while motorcycle colleagues wait four hundred metres away at a rest area. Trying to climb over the crash barrier, he fails to lift his leg high enough and goes over backwards. None of these sources names the original report or the broadcaster that aired it, so the filming context remains unknown. On the recording the verb is “casser”, to smash; the variant with “péter” also circulates, with no way to tie it back to the audio.
