In MyMemeCards, the meme card game, “Kehmesse” is a common card of the Memes FR pack, number 824 of the collection, and the 742nd best-known meme of its 869 cards. Here is what the meme means, where it comes from, and how to get its card.
What does the “Kehmesse” meme mean?
The card celebrates a punchline so laboured it becomes good. Use it for the friend who will bend any sentence to land a rhyme, for the pun you could see coming ten seconds out, for wordplay that collapses the moment you write it down. It also works as a nod to a spot-on impression: the listener cracking up is as much the joke as the line itself.
Where does the “Kehmesse” meme come from?
The clip comes from the vlog “Roi du divertissement: 3 jours avec Gradur”, published on 28 February 2025 on French rapper Naza’s YouTube channel. Riding in the van, Gradur parodies La Fouine’s delivery by stacking sevens: the 77 département, seven priests, seven masses. Naza picks up the same cadence and finishes with “j’ai vu des keh à la messe” before shouting the portmanteau. French hip-hop site 13or du Hip-Hop covered the clip and reported that La Fouine answered publicly, amused, first on X and then in Instagram Stories. “Keh” is a crude, derogatory slang word for a woman, borrowed from dialectal Arabic; the joke keeps only its sound, glued to “messe”, the French word for mass.
