Where does the “The Family Man” meme come from?
Jailson Mendes was the stage name of actor Jocione Mendonça (1970-2018), who from 2005 appeared in three adult films for the Brazilian studio Ícaro Studios. In one scene, he drinks orange juice and loudly moans the line “ai, que delícia, cara,” which circulated on Brazilian forums and social media and turned into a recurring joke long after the film's original release. The nickname “Pai de Família” came from the role he played in those productions. Already known as a meme, Mendonça launched a YouTube channel in late 2014, starting with innuendo-filled cooking videos before moving to gameplay of titles like GTA V, reaching nearly 200,000 subscribers by 2016. He died of a heart attack on June 29, 2018, at Planalto Hospital in São Paulo.
