What does the “Zé Carrinho” meme mean?
The term targets players who would rather run over or crash into enemies with cars, motorcycles, or other in-game vehicles than face them with a weapon. Becoming “Zé Carrinho” means winning in a way the community sees as having no style, even though the kill counts exactly the same on the scoreboard.
Where does the “Zé Carrinho” meme come from?
“Zé Carrinho” is a nickname in the Brazilian Free Fire community, a mobile battle royale, for a player who loves eliminating opponents with the game's vehicles. It belongs to a vocabulary that includes “Zé Lootinho” (who spends the match chasing loot) and “Zé Guaritinha”, also called “Zé Casinha” (the camper hiding in a house waiting for enemies). Techtudo explains that these eliminations are valid under the rules, but players link the habit to a lack of skill with weapons, so the nickname is mockery, not praise. According to ge, the memes of contempt spread and Free Fire even removed the pickup truck from its car list. Only “Zé Guaritinha” inspired a song, by MC Jottapê and Mano Brown.
