In MyMemeCards, the meme card game, “Potatoz turns up the heat” is an epic card of the Permanent Edition French Twitch Memes Season 1, number 49 of the collection, and the 60th best-known meme of its 78 cards. Here is what the meme means, where it comes from, and how to get its card.
What does the “Potatoz turns up the heat” meme mean?
The line is about squeezing someone by pretending not to follow their story. The tone is flat, the stare is heavy and the person on the receiving end starts to stumble. People use it to push a friend into explaining themselves, to expose a flimsy excuse, or to ramp up the tension when they suspect a lie in a game. It also works as a joke, because the fake menace is funny when it comes from friends who know each other well and are playing up the scene for the chat.
Where does the “Potatoz turns up the heat” meme come from?
The clip is titled “Le coup de pression de POTATOZ à Terracid” and was posted by a Potatoz clips channel. It comes from a 2021 game of Taupe Gun on Minecraft, a team game mode on Minecraft, and whose replays were published on the Wankil Studio VOD channel. Terracid, real name Damien Laguionie, is one half of the Wankil Studio duo with Thomas Iturralde, and he hosted these games live on Twitch with guests such as Potatoz. In the sequence Potatoz leans on his host, who struggles while the chat laughs along. The extract then travelled widely as a reaction, far from its original stream.
