What does the “Billy's malice” meme mean?
The expression describes the openly enjoyed pleasure of playing a mean joke on people you like: you know it is not very kind, you do it anyway, and you stop hiding your amusement. The “malevolence” is a game, never real cruelty, which is what makes it funny. People use it to announce a trap, to comment on a prank that worked too well, or to admit, laughing, that they could not resist the bad deed. The GIF shows a laugh spilling over, a sign you cannot hold it in, and it highlights the contrast between the sly intention and the visible joy of the person committing it.
Where does the “Billy's malice” meme come from?
The moment comes from a Valorant session in April 2023. Billy, real name Billal Hakkar, is a French streamer and video maker born on 28 April 1997 and known as RebeuDeter. He began on Twitch in 2018, launched the call-in show RadioDeter in 2019 and organised the DTR Fight boxing gala in December 2024. During this game he sets traps for his own teammates and cannot keep in “all this malevolence”, in the wording that stuck. The extract was turned into a GIF, which fans share as a reaction to pranks and playful low blows.
