The meme turns Serjão into a symbol of exaggerated, slightly folksy bravado from Brazil's countryside: someone telling a story too impressive to verify, with such conviction and theatrical detail, like imitating the jaguar's roar, that it becomes funny on its own. It is used to mock any dubious tale told with excessive confidence.
Where does the “Serjão the Horn Player” meme come from?
Serjão lives in Trindade, in the Goiânia metropolitan area, and is called berranteiro because he plays the cowhands' berrante horn. According to Curta Mais, on July 14, 2012 he gave an interview to Band in Goiânia, saying he was a jaguar killer and imitating the animal's sound. Portal 6 says the interview was for TV Goiânia.
